NATHAN LYGON

NATHAN LYGON is a proud Yuin Dharrawal and Wolgalu man. Nathan has a deep love and respect for fire and country. His interest in cultural fire began at a young age through time spent with his grandfather burning of and spending time in the bush learning about country.

Nathan will be part of our Cultural Burning discussion panel at the Aunty Alice Moore Stage (Speakers Tent) during Giiyong Festival 22 November 2025.

Nathan says, "Being in the bush with your family and mob walking with fire, regenerating the land and looking after country is incredibly fulfilling and rewarding. Fire will always be part of my life."

Over the last 7 years Nathan's interest and understanding of cultural fire has grown along with his knowledge and appreciation for country and the ways the old people worked with fire.
