GADHU DANCERS

The Gadhu dancers are a group of Yuin boys from Bermagui and Wallaga Lake on the Far South Coast of NSW. Gadhu is the Yuin word for the sea and the boys all have a special connection with the sea.

They meet each week at regularly with older community members to pass on stories, history and culture. They also learn traditional dances from the local area. The Gadhu dancers and community mentors spend time together on weekends practising dance as well as learning traditional fishing skills, making boomerangs, spears, lighting fires and traditional ways of living on the land.

All the dances that the Gadhu boys perform have been handed down through the generations of Yuin men and they are very proud to share their culture and knowledge.
